Our objective is functional fitness–not merely the appearance of it.
We are a strength and conditioning facility that employs the CrossFit model to help our clients pursue elite fitness. The workouts are based on functional, life-improving movements done at high intensity. Don’t be intimidated though, CrossFit is all-inclusive and every workout is modifiable to meet your skill level.
Our mission at Stone Coast CrossFit is to improve all aspects of daily life through fitness. We believe that CrossFit is a tool used not only to increase your level of fitness, but also boost your health and happiness.
Our fitness program is constructed to provide you with a daily challenge. Our trainers are enthusiastic and experienced, and welcome the challenge of establishing and progressing towards each client’s personal goals. Regardless of your own fitness experiences and goals, there is always a CrossFit plan that is right for you. The workout will be pre-programmed everyday and members will exercise as a group under the supervision of one of our coaches. The peer support and competition created by this setting gives clients the fastest path to improvement.
At Stone Coast CrossFit you will find the mental and physical tools you need to enhance your own wellbeing, and the team-like atmosphere is sure to motivate you as you continue toward personal gain and success.

Lily Hamill – Owner/Trainer
CrossFit Level 1 certified/CF-L1
American Red Cross CPR/AED Certified
Lily fell in love with CrossFit in March of 2010. The daily challenges presented by CrossFit have changed her life. (Corny, but true!) She has seen not only the physical gains spill over into all activities but also improved self confidence and mental fortitude that enhance her quality of life. (Plus, the CrossFit gym is where Nick and Lily met!) Lily is currently pursuing a doctorate of physical therapy degree at University of New England. She plans to use this knowledge not only in an outpatient clinic setting but also in combination with CrossFit programming to maintain greatest level of fitness through the recovery process and for health maintenance.
Amy Adamson - Manager/Trainer
CrossFit Level 1 Certified/CF-L1
Amy was introduced to CrossFit in November of 2009 as a way to get stronger for rugby. After a year of doing CrossFit and rugby together, she hung up her boots and focused on CrossFit. She has since competed in team events at the 2011 and 2012 Northeast Regionals and the Beast of the East, and individually at the Hybrid Strongman Competition. Over many hours at the gym, she has found a joy in helping others learn new movements. As a person who has worked hard at certain skills (like 9 months of trying to get double-unders), she has learned different ways to instruct movements, which translates well into helping others. In addition to her CrossFit Level 1 course, she has done seminars with Greg and Aimee Everett (Catalyst Olympic lifting) and Carl Paoli (Gymnastics WOD). She hopes to help people achieve their fitness goals.
Joe Sortwell – Trainer
CrossFit Level 1 certified/CF-L1
USAW Level 1 Sports Performance Coach
American Red Cross CPR/AED Certified
Joe, originally from Camden, did some adventuring out West and in Florida before retuning to the Midcoast to pursue a job in real estate. He has been Crossfitting since the fall of 2009 and competed as part of the team with Crossfit Delray Beach in 2011. Joe coached at CrossFit Delray Beach for two years. Joe is an avid golfer, tennis player and skier. He also played baseball competitively for 20 years. Some of Joe’s favorite things include coaching the 6am class, eating paleo and double-unders.
Eric Blumenthal - Trainer
CrossFit Level 1 Certified/CF-L1
Eric started doing CrossFit in the Spring of 2008 (when there were NO CF Affiliates in Maine) while looking for something to break him out of his fitness routine. He was bored with his Glob-Gym workouts and attempted his first CrossFit workout on April 23, 2008. His first WOD was “Murph”, and though he completed it without the Rx’d 20# vest and using an assisted pull up machine, he gained a huge amount of respect for the intensity of the workout.
In May of 2010 he found CrossFit MF in Portland, which was conveniently located across from his place of work. He worked out there as he could until Stone Coast opened on April 17th, 2012 .
In his free time Eric enjoys Competing and Judging in CF events, reading, and spending time with his two children, Jonas and Mia.
His favorite WOD is Helen and his least favorite is anything that involves Double – Unders.
